After a small hiccup with the rain Monday morning our whole school dance got the week of to a great start with a rousing rendition of the Hokey Cokey. Tuesday`s song was Shake it up, Wednesday`s was Superman. It is great to see all the teachers and pupils dancing together. Parents are also invited to join in on Friday morning.

Monday saw 4th, 5th and 6th complete a taster lesson in Karate taught by Sensai Kieran Mullen and judging by reports it was “excellent” and 2I`m joining this when I go home”.

3rd class completed a taster session in Hurling taught by Kieran Ryan and they really enjoyed it.

The teachers also got involved with a Zumba class organised for after school.

On Tuesday 4th and 6th did Hip Hop taught by Vicky Barry. 3rd and 4th travelled by bus to Naas Hockey club and 3rd travelled to Naas tennis club. Every single activity was amazing and the pupils really enjoyed themselves.

Tuesday also saw 2 teams compete in a blitz in Hawkfield and our Hurling team also played a match.

On Wednesday Junior Infants had a Zumba class taught by Sinead Nooney, 1st got a taste of gymnastics and 5th and 2nd got to enjoy a soccer lesson.

We have 8 different activities planned for Thursday so lets hope the weather stays fine.

The walking at lunchtime is working very well with some students managing 7 laps of the parish field today.

Some photos of the week so far are attached.

Active school week 2013

Active school week will take place from May 27th – 31st in our school.

In preparation for it each class is designing posters to promote being active which will be displayed around the school.

There are lots of fun activities planned for the week for students and teachers! Parents are welcome to get involved as well.  There are school walks organised during lunch time every day (12.45 – 1.15pm) for all pupils and parents are invited to attend.

It all goes towards getting our Active School Flag (ASF). The Department of Education and Skills wishes to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physical educated and physically active school community by awarding them the  Active School Flag. Once awarded the flag remains valid for a period of 3 years.
