Junior Infants: Term 3 Review

We are finished our last term of Junior Infants. I would like to congratulate all the children on working so hard all year. It has been a pleasure teaching such wonderful boys and girls and I wish them every success in Senior Infants.

Here are some photographs of our last term;

SESE: We investigated the best materials to use to build the three little pigs houses. We also had our annual Science Day.

Arts: We continued to work on the theme of the Garden Centre. In May, we focused on the theme of Animals for Aistear and set up a veterinary surgery in our role play area. We also had a small world and water play section. As part of Aistear, we created various farm and jungle animals. For June, our theme was summer. In our role play area, the children were working in the travel agents. We also had small world, construction and water/sand play.

PE: We held Active School Week the last week of school. We did lots of activities – we did 8 or more laps of the parish field per child, we did zumba dancing with Ms. Nooney and irish dancing with Ms. Mullally. We also had dancing every morning in the hall.

Fun Day: The 6th class pupils held a Fun Day to raise money for their recent trip to Delphi. The children enjoyed buying toys and treats and playing the various games organised.

School Tour: For our school tour, we went to Caragh Open Farm on Tuesday 28th of June. The children really enjoyed seeing the various animals and playing in the playgrounds. On Wednesday 29th of June, each class got a session of Playball and then the three classes came together for a little party.

Active School Week in 5th Class

5th class are really enjoying all parts of Active School Week and after what has been our busiest day so far, I think we’re all probably very tired.

The day started off with rugby in the parish field in the morning, badminton in the GP hall after break, walking at lunch time and gaelic football to finish the day off. A big thanks to all the coaches who gave us their time.

Here are just a few photos from the day.
