 Caragh 4-7  Kildare 1-0

1st Half look back

It was Caragh’s second match of the Senior Hurling campaign and they were up against a very competitive Kildare Town. Caragh, led by captain no.8, knew that they HAD to win the match to have any chance of reaching the next round. Luckily for us it was not Kildare Town’s day.

Almost immediately after the throw-in Caragh had a point on the board. Our centre forward was the scorer after an accurate shot. Heads up and confidence high, Caragh began to dominate midfield. It could have been five or six goals after ten minutes had it not been for Kildare’s exceptional goalkeeper. Two points scored by Caragh’s centre back and two frees kept Caragh in front and Caragh’s first goal finally came through their no.9 after he broke into the box to tap home. It was just the first of Caragh’s goals but by then the damage was done.

2nd Half  look back

There was a slow start to the second half up until Caragh took hold of the game and scored two quick points and a goal. Kildare hit back though with a goal of their own  through their full forward. If this had raised their hopes they were quickly dashed as Caragh scored two goals in quick succession after a late substitution.

As the referee blew the final whistle, Kildare left Father Kinsella Park with empty hearts.
